    Default Howdy from Texas....

Hi to all. I am shooting gunite tomorrow and have still not made up my mind as to the plaster color. I have tried researching this option and seem to be more confused than ever. I was originally leaning toward white, then was advised that it stains and marks easily. Light grey (french Gray Durazzo) has been suggested and then I'm told it will start marbling. I don't want a dark color as we live in the country and have a few cotton mouths around. It's time to lean on independent experience with nothing to gain from their input , other than to help a fellow out. Could some of you please make suggestions based on your experience.
    Thanks Derek

Here are a couple of points to consider:

#1 - Colored plaster makes your pool warmer. In full sun, it can add up to 7 degrees, compared to white. Given that many of your neighbors are trying to figure out how to cool their pools off . . . white might be the best choice.

#2 - White is the most stable color, and requires the least amount of skill for a uniform result. I've never seen any evidence that it's more prone to marking. It will show stains more than a dark color (Duh!).

#3 - It's by far the easiest to match repairs.

Those were my original thoughts, as it has been a record breaking summer this year. I have even sprayed elastomeric om my house and shop rooves to help repel the heat. The patches part is also essential and I'm glad you brought that up. Thanks
