Get a 6-way test kit.

You can also take it to a dealer to be tested. Their test results may or may not be accurate, but they will be more accurate than no test at all. The critical tests for EVERYBODY are chlorine, pH, and CYA. Alkalinity and calcium are less important. Acid and base demand tests more often cause problems, then they provide help

While you are at the pool store getting your CYA checked, don't let them talk you into buying a bunch of stuff!
