Hello all. I just purchased a foreclosed home with a swamp (pool). I'm installing all new equipment from the ground up. The pool is kidney shaped, approx 18k gallons. My goals are as follows:
1. I want to maintain the pool myself, but with minimum maintenance.
2. I don't mind "high" initial costs for good equipment.
I'm narrowed my filtration to either cartridge or sand. I will grossly oversize either one.
I'm still undecided on sanitizing method. (SWCG, BBB, mineral?)
Please help with the following question:
1. If grossly oversized (i.e. 520 square foot cartridge on a 18k gallon pool with auto cover that is closed at all times except for when swimming), will a cartridge filter be less maintenance than an equally oversized sand filter?
2. Will a SWCG be less maintenance and or less costly than the BBB system? (local pool store made me nervous about corrosion from salt water. Any truth to that?)
Any responses helpful. Thanks.
