brown pool water

help! i got an 18x48 ag intex pool and ever since the night i filled it up, my water has been rust color. i have tried the sock over the return valve and although it is getting better, it still isnt gone. i have also used metal control and still ... no clear water. any ideas? any help is greatly appreciated!

There are about a dozen similar threads in the Dealing with Metals section (where I'll move this). Read through some of those.

Meanwhile, chlorinate the pool with SMALL doses, run your filter 24/7, add water through the skimmer if you can.
