Purex Triton 4000 DE Filter - 60sq ft

I want to remove the valve under the filter grid manifold. I have taken off the handle assembly that moves the valve from filter to backwash. The valve is very hard to pull up. What is the best way to remove the valve? I want to replace the valve seal and the o ring at the bottom.

Thanks Ben - I was able to get the valve out. This filter was designed poorly - to reach the vave you have to remove the filter, grids, manifold ect. It would have been nice to have the valve on he outside of the unit. Thanks for the great site!
