    Default I would like to know about using bleach and baking soda

    I have heard that you can use bleach and baking soda instead of regular pool chemicals. I have a 24 ft round above ground pool I just need the detail on how to do this.
    Thanks

    Hi Karch;

    Bleach IS a regular pool chemical -- it's sold in pool stores as "liquid chlorine". Likewise, baking soda (~$0.50/lb ) is sold in pool stores as Alkalinity Increaser at $2/lb. And borax -- 20 Mule Team borax, ~$0.75/lb at Walmart -- is sold in pool stores as "Proteam Supreme" or "BioGuard Optimizer" at up to $5/lb.

    But, to go a bit further, read the BBB page link in my signature.

    Good luck!
