Well, the kids are pestering me for a pool and rather than rush out and get just any pool I thought I would do some research online and found this site. We will start with an above ground pool, early searching points to Intex steel frame as a decent starter pool? How about the intex Salt Water Pool system, Does it work?

There have been lots of new members this year who have bought Intex pools. If you use the google search link in my signature line below, you should be able to find quite a bit of information. One question for you is what will be your source of water? We have had a rash of Intex users filling from wells who are struggling to clear up metals in the water.

There have been lots of happy Intex pool owners, but . . .

#1 - Because of the undersized filters, and (usually) the lack of a skimmer, the pools are very hard to clean up, if you get algae or let the chlorine get low.
#2 - I do not recommend the current Intex salt system, because it's a salt chlorinator PLUS copper. Copper does prevent algae, but it also stains light blonde and gray hair green. Use a tablet floater instead -- it's both easier and cheaper.
#3 - If you've got well water, TEST YOUR WELL WATER . . . or whatever water you will fill with . . . FIRST. Then post results here, and let us help you work out a plan BEFORE you start filling. This is particularly important if you have metals in your well water, or use a softener.
