Question on installing Pentair Cartridge Filter - ABS or PVC?

I'm installing a Pentair Clear and Clear cartridge filter. The input and output unions are black and I've not sure if they are PVC or ABS. Even my brother who is a plumber couldn't tell and had not seen black PVC. He was wondering if they were ABS though that does not seem likely. Any ideas?

Dunno. Here are 4 options:

1. Wait till someone who does know, answers.
2. Use universal cement, and glue PVC in.
3. Call Pentair and ask => 800-831-7133
4. Find the manual at pentairpool.com and see if it tells.

Personally, I'd recommend #3 or #4.

Pentair says it is PVC.
