Default Starting whisperflo pump for the first time

I'm having issues getting the pump to circulate water like it is meant to. This is the initial startup on a new pool. I have followed instructions on the filter and manual but the filter basket just empties and will sporadically fill with very little water. Am I doing something wrong? I have filled the filter basket with water and turned on the pump with and without the high pressure air valve opened. How long should I run it?

    Ok. New pool. Inground?

Where's your builder? He/she should be doing this. Unless there's some reason why he's no longer in the picture, he REALLY should be the won doing this. You do NOT want to give him the chance -- if something is wrong -- to say, well it was fine till you did X.

But, if you really are the one to be doing this, take and send pics to poolforum.pics AT gmail DOT com. It's pretty hard to troubleshoot a piping or circulation problem without info about how the piping and valves are laid out.
