    Post Pump Distance

We are considering moving our pump in an out building. We have purchased a heater and thought we would put all equipment in an existing out building that sits approximately 4 feet from our pool deck. Are there any maximum requirements for pump placement? Are there any restrictions that I am overlooking?

    Default Re: Pump Distance

The real maximums are in terms of flow characteristics, not distance.

If you are moving 60GPM, you can go about as far as you'd like with 2" pipe, but not 1.5" pipe. So, a meaningful answer requires that you give us info about your pool, existing pipe size, filter size, and any elevation difference between the existing pump location and the new one.

Also, unventilated out buildings tend to be hot. A hot room translates into a really hot pump. And really hot pump tends to translate into short motor life.
