Re: Back-wash hose busted.
I just replaced mine and I used a 2" hose.
Re: Back-wash hose busted.
Better yet, plumb it with PVC if you can.
Re: Back-wash hose busted.
There's a simple screw-in fitting on the filter for the backwash that can be replaced with either 1.5" or 2". I replaced it with 2" because the heavier backwash hoses are 2" and that's mine.
I just hose-clamp it on.
Re: Back-wash hose busted.
Mine popped to.....3 times.
Re: Back-wash hose busted.
After the second hose I plumbed mine with pvc and it works great!
Re: Back-wash hose busted.
I just received a 2" hose, to find out that my old hose is 1.5", can I just use the 2" w/o any adjustments and just clamp it back on as it was on the 1.5"?
Re: Back-wash hose busted.
That should be no problem to do, but I hard piped mine as well, much nicer looking. I have it piped into a drainage pipe underground.
Re: Back-wash hose busted.
I bought a 1.5 inch firehose off ebay; it'll last a long time only using it 6 or 8 times a year. I got one or two backwashes out of those silly PVC hoses before they parted.
Re: Back-wash hose busted.
Man what a huge difference in backwashing from 1.5" hose to 2" hose. Water drains much quicker. :)
Works great. Thanks!!

wow great Idea...are they easy to wind up and store?
anything negitive about using one of them,
or is it as great as it seems with no drawbacks.

I wish it had been my idea but I got it from here. That thread explains the thread issues you can run into.
Mine came with one of these racks that you've probably seen at schools. It's kind of a pain, frankly; it'd be better with a reel but as I only backwash 6 or 8 times a year it's OK as is.
Re: Back-wash hose busted.
Go to a farm supply store. Get some pump discharge hose in whatever size you want. You can buy quick connect fittings and adapters for it to avoid having it by the pump all of the time. It's about halfway between backwash hose and fire hose in strength. Fabric reinforced and lays flat to roll up.
