Re: Looking for help...green and cloudy with some pink in the pipes...?
Okay, so hubby decided to drain Thursday. It was probably for the best. It looked like we might've had some flocked junk on the bottom that apparently was causing the turbidity. (We flocked a long time ago and apparently didn't get it all out...I see why this is not recommended...). Nearly completely drained the pool and refilled. It looks soooo much better. Our fill water was a bit muddy, but that was gone by Friday morning. Now, I'm working on completely clearing. It's still a bit cloudy, but bluer than it's been in two seasons! As of this morning, the test results were:
FC-12.0
CC-0.0
pH-7.4
TA-80
Hardness-50
(The last two were tested late last night)
Since we drained, CYA should be 0. We've got 2 cups DE in the filter with a skimmer sock (nylon) on the basket and a chlorine tablet in the skimmer to help get some stabilizer in the water. Like I said, we're still cloudy, but I assume the muddy stream water we used probably put some algae in, so I'm in the process of holding that chlorine. There's been great improvements over the past two days! I just wanted to let you guys know what was up, and to thank you again for this invaluable forum!!!
Re: Looking for help...green and cloudy with some pink in the pipes...?
Let us know how it goes...you're right to hold the shock chlorine level to kill off whatever the stream water brought in. You might find that using a trichlor puck in the skimmer doesn't get your CYA up fast enough--if if doesn't, you can always add it seperately. Keep us posted!
Re: Looking for help...green and cloudy with some pink in the pipes...?
Chlorine held last night...at 7:30pm FC was 10.0, and at 6:30am this morning FC was 10.5 (I left about half a tablet in the skimmer basket last night). I thought I would go ahead and start letting it drop today. At 2:15pm today the FC was 6.5, so yes, the stabilizer is def. low! Also, pH was 7.0 today. I'm gonna pick up some Borax and try to get that raised up. The water looks fantastic today, though! It's nice and blue, you can see the bottom, but it's still cloudy. Gonna try to get that pH up and continue filtering and hopefully we'll be swimming in it by the weekend, if not sooner! Thanks again!!

Thanks again to you guys...sorry I haven't been back in a while, but been really busy...and what free time I have had, it's been spent in the beautiful CLEAN pool! You guys have definitely got it going on! I've recommended this forum to everyone I know with a pool!
