perflex grid damage
I power washed my grid (fingers) and caused some of the fabric to unweave just enough to let a green cloud of dirty DE powder shoot out of the returns for about 10 secords upob start-up. I wrapped electrical tape around the damaged part of the fingers, but no luck. Why didnt the tape stop the problem?

Re: perflex grid damage
probably too much pressure in the filter to hold the tape and grids and de filter tto the micron level I think. Best bet would to find a store or site that sells individual fingers and replace the damaged ones. Also, don't power wash your filter, use a hose.

Re: perflex grid damage
Last year (... OK 2006) there was a post here about using hot glue to seal small holes in the fingers. You can give that thread a read and see if it will be applicable in your situation - other alternatives are mentioned as well.
Good luck with solving this!! BTW - tape doesn't stick well to the fabric of the fingers, it may seem to when dry but the 'wicking' of the fabric breaks the seal quickly:mad:
