Hi,
We have two tiny cracks in our concrete pool. Our repair options are major ($1500) or minor ($225). I'm willing to do the major but not if we will have to redo it next summer. One of the two cracks are leaking so we need to decide sooner rather than later. The major includes draining the pool and filling with epoxy. The minor is a patch job. We are in Texas and in a high drought situation.
Any advice as to which option is best for the life of the pool?
Perhaps the most important question you need an answer to is, "Why did it crack?"
If it's a structural problem, from poorly compacted fill settling, $1500 probably won't begin to provide a permanent fix.
If it's an expansion/contraction crack, hard epoxy may not help at all, or it may simply cause the crack to 'move' and re-appear elsewhere.
If it's a shrinkage crack, minor patching may well be sufficient.
