replace or repair damaged pump motor
My Hayward (A.O. Smith) pump motor fail due to my stupidity. Too much debris in the pump strainer.
I opened the back, and could see the plastic case for the capacitor is melted. Is it worth trying to have it repaired, or attempting to replace the capacitor? Or should I just buy a new motor?
It's a single-speed 2HP motor, about 7 years old.
Thanks,
hikernut

Poconos is good on motors.

Hikernut,
Have you resolved the problem? If not, I can shoot Poconos an email and have him check in here to give you some advice--he's the best one around when it comes to motor repair...
Re: replace or repair damaged pump motor
Replacing the capacitor is fairly easy and cheap to do so I would try that before scraping the motor.
