Didn't know I'd be able to taste the salt.

Is this normal? I added about 8 bags to a 20k pool, that's when the add salt light went off.

You can't really rely on that light to be very accurate unless you've verified it with a test kit. Take a sample to a pool store for a reading. You added almost 2000ppm of salt if they were 40lb bags. Unless there was already salt in there, you shouldn't be tasting it.

At 3200 ppm, i can tell there's something in there. Its not real strong though. I'd check your results with a test kit to be sure.

I keep 3200 ppm in my pool. Last weekend several people who'd never been in a saltwater pool went for a dip (didn't know about the salt in the water). Afterwords, 2 of the 5 said they tasted a VERY slight saltiness, the other 3 had no idea.

I can taste it for just a second, then goes away.

Bottom line, you need a good drop based test via Ben or Taylor (you can order online). Don't rely on the light or the readout.

im at 4,000ppm and its a light salty taste. the feel of the water makes me forget about it though.

Keep mine at about 3400 ppm and can't taste the salt....then again I also live about a block from the ocean and swim there also so maybe I'm more used to seawater so I don't notice low salt levels.
