I found there are some sand like stuff on the pool floor. How can I tell it is sand leaking from filter or some surface dusts sinking to the floor?

Best way I know -- for your own pool -- is to swim down and feel it. Sand feels, well, sandy. Dead algae is powder and may float away when you try to touch it. DE (not that you should have any, unless you have a DE filter) is sort of a very fine but gritty powder.

While Ben's suggestion has a certain 'gritty' practicality to it () - what I do is rubberband a nylon to one of the returns and check whatever it catches, this also removes blown in debris from the equation
(And you don't have to get in the pool to perform the test.
