Same price as our WalMart Northwest Louisiana. I had not picked up on the 182 oz change, either.

I also use Aldi bleach which dropped in price from $1.29 to $1.09 at the start of the season. 6% concentration.

if you have meijer in the area, the best buy i've found on bleach is their 10% in the pool section for $9.99 a case (4 gallons). similar in $/oz. to some of the 6% you can find, but more convenient.
Our local Dollar Tree stores carry the 3 quart jugs of 6% for only $1.00. I went in one day and loaded 15 jugs into my cart. A couple of people looked at us a little funny, so I told my daughter, "if anyone asks what we are doing with all this bleach, we'll tell them we are cleaning up a crime scene!"
I paid $1.60 per gallon at Marc's grocery (locally owned) in Westerville, Ohio today. That's about as cheap as I've found it since I don't shop at Walmart and there isn't an Aldi near me.
Was it 6%?
Yes, it was 6%. Seemed to work just fine. I'll be stocking up this weekend. The store isn't convenient to my house, but it will be worth the trip for the bleach. Usually I'd only say a special trip was worthwhile for shoes!![]()
i got a 3 pack of 182oz jugs of clorox at costco in nyc for $9 and change
I don't know if you have these stores near you... but "NAMCO" has 5 gallon jugs of 12% concentration for $17.00.
You pay a refundable $6.00 deposit on the jug.
A couple gallons of 12% and *WOW*... it clears up the pool in a jiffy !
This is one thing I still buy from a pool store for two reasons. It is a bit more expensive (about $0.25/gal), but I need fewer jugs because it is 12%. That is much more convenient for me. The bottles also pour much nicer, and are naturally recycled. Plus they sell muriatic acid that is a lot stronger than home depot (the home depot acid dropped in strength about 2 years ago, but not in price), so I pick it all up at one time.
The pool store also claims their chlorine is "fresher" than bleach or home depot chlorine. I'm skeptical on this, any thoughts?
