Red face Sta-Rite 3/4hp pump not working. Replace motor only?

Help! How can I tell if my Sta-Rite MaxEPro 3/4 hp pump (p6e6g-205l) needs to be completely replaced or just replace the motor OR could it be that the power is not getting there? My pool cleaner says it is not 'locked up' because it moves freely inside, but the motor just stopped coming on one day. Should I first check the power source? My panel light comes on when I switch it to 'on', so I believe it is getting power. Also, our pool runs on 4 MaxEPro pumps, and all other 3 have power, so I don't really think it's the power source. It seems that everyone wants to overprice parts and pumps, so I'm trying to do this on my own. (Farmer's daughter on a mission!!) Labor will have to be hired, but I'd like to get the best deal on the motor/pump first! THANKS!

I believe that motor is a capacitor start capacitor run motor so the start capacitor could be bad which is why it is not starting.

Does it hum at all when turned on?

Also check the breakers for the pump to make sure they have not triped. If the pump uses GFCI breakers, those sometimes go bad as well.

Exclamation Re: Sta-Rite 3/4hp pump not working. Replace motor only?

Not to put too fine a point on it . . . but if you have 4 pumps and a control panel, etc., you need an electrician to put eyeballs on your pool.

Trying to diagnose electrical faults remotely, without a diagram, meter readings or even a photo is sort of a fool's errand. Even with the best intentions, advice from here could lead you do something unsafe.

    Locking this thread: sorry!
