You're welcome. Unfortunately I don't know enough about the Chlorine Geni to reply intelligently.
In theory, it's generating chlorine gas in water (bleach), and storing it in a holding tank, at which point it's drawn into the return line. Salt is added to a tank and must be more frequently replenished, rather than being added directly into the pool and topped off only as needed, as with Salt Chlorine Generators. Similar systems were used years ago, under the names of Unichlor or Porpoise.
This approach prevents any concerns with salt added to pools and the complaints of salt degradation. Actual reasons on this is debatable...
However, this does not provide the same "feel and comfort" of adding the salt to the pool. This also does not have the "shocking" effect on combined chlorine as takes place with a SCG cell.
That's about all I've got to say about that.
