    Default Chlorine Geni

Anyone know anything about a SWG called the "Chlorine Geni" ?

It appears to be a stand along SWG similar to a home water treatment system where you add the salt into a tank and it is mixed with the water to form a salt solution and then is pushed thru the electrode thingy to make chlorine.

You don't add the salt to the pool with this system.

But it seems to be a start up company as I can't find anything on the web about it and nearly every google search links me to some propaganda site for this thing.

It is very expensive too. I mean VERY expensive.

I am still leaning toward some sort of SWG and PoolSean has been very helpful in answering all my questions.

I was curious about this as it is new and different.

You're welcome. Unfortunately I don't know enough about the Chlorine Geni to reply intelligently.

In theory, it's generating chlorine gas in water (bleach), and storing it in a holding tank, at which point it's drawn into the return line. Salt is added to a tank and must be more frequently replenished, rather than being added directly into the pool and topped off only as needed, as with Salt Chlorine Generators. Similar systems were used years ago, under the names of Unichlor or Porpoise.

This approach prevents any concerns with salt added to pools and the complaints of salt degradation. Actual reasons on this is debatable...
However, this does not provide the same "feel and comfort" of adding the salt to the pool. This also does not have the "shocking" effect on combined chlorine as takes place with a SCG cell.

That's about all I've got to say about that.
