    Default Waterway Pump Assembly

Ok, I searched the forum hoping to find an answer but better yet to avoid an embarrassing question. No luck, so here goes. I have a waterway pump. I pulled the cover off and when I did a white plastic ring fell out (#12). I see no place where it fits snugly but in the exploded diagram I can see where it goes. Does it just float there? I believe it is a wear ring of sorts. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

When I took mine apart, I believe it just fits loose around the impeller.
