    Default Algae problem. HELP

I have a in gorund cement pool that holds about 23,000 gals. I use a Jandy DE filter. I took the over off and all the slime, algae and junk aling with filthy water fell in the pool. Now I can't get the filter to pump out the junk. It builds up pressure fast and when I backwsah I dont see any dity water coming out. (I havent vacumed or scrubbed the walls and bottom yet) Yesterday I put in about 10 gals of bleach. Last night I took readings and cl was way over 5, Ph was way over 8 and TA was about 120. I have been runing the aquabot but it stalls out from picking up all the junk. My plan is today Im going to start start scrubbing the walls and bottom, start vacuming, and add muruatic acid. Am I headed in the right direction?

    I think so.

You SHOULD vacuum to waste with a regular vacuum so you don't clog your filter constantly. You might also get a kind of skimmer attachment for your pole called a "leaf rake" that looks like a net with a squeegee and use THAT to get the majority of junk off the bottom.

Next, you need to bring your pH down to the mid 7's.

Then you'll need to get your bleach levels 'way higher than 5, to the proper shock level--I'm guessing that you should go to 15.

Why? With all that bio-mass in your pool I'm betting your CYA (stabilizer) level is almost certainly at or near zero--and 10-15ppm is the correct shock level in that case.

We should get a full sweep of numbers.
