Default Check Your Spider Gasket (Thanks Poconos)

If you have sand in the pool, and you can't figure out why there is air in the pump, check the spider gasket. I did everything you can think of to figure out my problem, including scooping all the sand out of the filter to check the laterals, replacing plugs, and replacing o-rings. The culprit was the spider gasket, and after a quick fix my problem is solved........for now.

I have a doughboy media master and I do notice a small amount of sand in the pool below the return. I replaced the gasket I think your referring to a couple years ago but it doesn't seem to me that I noticed any improvement at that time. Is there anything else to check?

Sometimes sand blowing back into the pool is caused by an oversized pump for the filter, and sometimes it's caused by a crack in the laterals in the filter. Sometimes though, it's just dust/pollen/dirt/airborne junk that settles in the water and you can't really do anything about it but vacuum it up.

Glad to hear you resolved the problem. Those blasted gaskets can cause all kinds of problems because when they go bad you can get all kinds of unwanted flow paths, including lost water out the waste line.

This is very true, I also noticed water going out to the waste line the same time as the pool was filtering.
