    Default PVC problem in pump

    Hello,

Luke a pool professional in Atlanta. While finishing servicing a pool, I dropped my hayward super pump and the pipe out of the discharge broke off flush with the discharge. IT is taped in and not glued. I used SCH 80 so its thicker than normal SCH 80. I need some ideas on how to remove the 1" of pipe left in the discharge. Thanks!

    Luke

Use a hacksaw blade to make a cut in the pvc without cutting into the pump threads. Then make another cut in the pvc about a 1/4 to 3/8 inch from the first cut. Then take a flat head screw driver and tap out the pvc between the cuts, be careful note to damage the pump threads. Depending how the pipe was threaded in you should be able to tape out the rest of the pipe. If the pipe will not budge make another set of cuts and repeat. good luck

There's probably a fitting or piece of pvc pipe that can be glued to the inside so you can unscrew it from there even though you used the thicker wall. You might call a pvc store for availability.

Yeah, Tony's got the right idea. That might be a tough fitting to find, tho. I'll bet if you check around, they make something like a schedule 80 bushing that'll work.
