Default Woo Hoo!!! New liner being started on today!!

As of right now I have a huge, water-less hole in my backyard after they've pumped the remainder of the water out, and they're now in the process of removing the remains of the old liner. They found 2 small tears in the bottom of the deep end and an additional hole in the floor of the shallow, so I guess that would explain my 3-4" water loss/day problem!! The guy pumping it out said that he's never seen that much water actually under a liner before, but it's been leaking all winter long, so I'm not surprised.

Today is removal of old liner and re-smoothing/patching of the sand/concrete bottom, tomorrow is installation of new liner and beginning of filling, then Wednesday they're supposed to come back and trim/fit new eyeballs and plates. Figures that while I was out talking to the guy, the water system called to let us know the fire department will be performing annual hydrant testing for the next two days, causing yucky water--so I'm waiting for the head guy to get back to see if there's any way we can delay filling for a few days until the water clears up. Our water out of the tap is normally just about perfect, except for the low CYA...I'd hate to start a new liner out with dirty, rusty colored water!!

Thumbs up Re: Woo Hoo!!! New liner being started on today!!

Except for the hydrant issue - sounds GREAT!!!

Must either be a standard pool or you've got the original PB to do the new liner

We always measure for a new liner, even if we built the pool, just to be sure the liner fits correctly - it takes longer, but IMO, it's worth it!

I hope you have no fill water issues and can start swimming ... Thursday

Didn't get the original PB to do the liner--there's a very long line of people waiting to sue them for inadequate work (fortunately I'm not one of them!). The pool installer spent 2-3 hours here measuring for the new liner, so I'm not really concerned about that, plus it's a standard hopper-shaped pool with a 3 1/2 foot extension in the shallow end, which is common for this PB and which this installer is familiar with.

Liner is in, spent all night with hose running to fill it, am aiming water level for a piece of duct tape he put on the wall in the shallow end. When it reaches that level (in the next hour or so), they come back and cut in the stairs, skimmer, eyeball, and replace the plates. They took my stairs with them yesterday to completely clean them. The kids are already begging me to let them swim this weekend! Will try to get a pic when hubby gets home this evening..........

Liner job is completed, stairs cleaned all bright and shiny, eyeballs, new plates, etc put on, filling the rest of the way now. I replaced the spider gasket in my multiport, replaced and topped off the zeosand in my filter, water temp is roughly 74 degrees. Just waiting to get enough water in the pool to start the pump............Yay!!! Looks like we're swimming this weekend!! Total cost, $2450.00, included liner with 10 year warranty, smoothing surface on floor, cleaning of steps, new eyeball and skimmer plates, and installation of all. First day took approximately 6 hours, second day approx. 6 hours, skipped yesterday because pool was still filling, then approximately 2 hours this morning to do steps and returns. All in all, it was much more painless than I thought, and it's gorgeous!!

    Yay Janet!

I've never priced a new liner install here but your cost sounds reasonable and affordable. I know it'll stick in my mind when the time comes for us to replace ours.

And your water is 74 F already! That's excellent. You WILL be swimming this weekend. We have another month to go here but I'll be thinking of you in your new pool.
