    Post Aluminum wall panel damage

I searched for an answer here but didn't find one.

Just noticed there are HOLES in one of my panels (24' AG, SWG) and the liner is showing. The damage is at the bottom where the panel meets the ground and is adjacent to where I add the sanitizer and muratic acid. Size varies from pea to quarter sized. What can cause this?

Does anyone know of a possible 'bandaid' patch fix?

    Thanks,
    Dennis

Sorry I didn't get back sooner but have been off the forum for a bit. Looking at the pics it seems like any band-aid would futile, and big. Looks like a lot of damage and it will only spread. Something obviously got in contact with bare aluminum. Could it have been splashing of the acid and bleach or maybe just salt splash which I think would be more likely. If it were me I probably wouldn't waste my time trying to fix it. Kind of like trying to weld up the holes in a rusted muffler. No good metal to hook on to.
Sorry I don't have any better advice.

I suppose you could cut out the bad metal and try Bondo--but don't let it near the liner until it's fully cured or you'll WORSE problems. Ultimately, you have to find what's causing it.

Carl and Al, and, of course Dennis - I can't say that the salt in the pool is solely responsible, but I do believe it's the major cause.

I doubt that patching the wall would work well nor hold long However, if you want to try patching the wall, I can and will proffer advice on doing it
