Is skimmer weir removable?
Ok, me again with yet another issue on my new-to-me pool.
The skimmer weir doesn't have full range of motion. It will lie flat (parallel with the top of the skimmer basket) and will float up maybe about a third of the way it's supposed to. Then it seems to catch on both sides of the skimmer so won't go any further.
Pool seems to be only 3-4 years old, so I don't know why it has this problem. There don't seem to be any cracks or leaks in the skimmer area that I can see.
The solution would seem to be to grind off a bit on each side of the weir so it can flap the way it's supposed to. But I don't see a way to remove the door - if that's even possible. If not, does anyone know of a way to grind away a bit of the sides of the weir? It's too tight a space to utilize any tools that I can think of - will some kind of wet sandpaper work?
This weir is basically a flat piece of plastic - no styrofoam.
Thanks for any tips you've got!
