sounds like rust from iron in your fill water.
We have a 12 x 20 x48" Intex with the salt system. From the start practically we have had a what could be called red dust in the pool. Not alot, but definately enough to turn my paper filter a nice rust red. The big question is what is it? It seems safe enough. Just puzzling. If anyone can clue me in I would appreciate it.
Thanks

That's what I would think but my fill water was from a municipal supply and I would think that after almost 2 months it would have been filtered out and depleted wouldn't it? I am not overly worried about it, but a friend has a friend (really) that has a salt water system with the same thing and they just ignore it. I am just curious .
Thanks for any suggestions
municipal water can still have iron and it will precipitate out under a combination of high chlorine levels and high pH, which might be happening in some part of the intex unit. Also, if you accidently used food grade salt with yellow prussiate of soda added as an anti caking agent it would be the iron source since it is an iron salt.
Iron in water is actually very common.
