Vinyl Chlorine pool - brownorange staining

This is a 10 year old vinyl IG pool that I have been maintaining using bleach borax for 7 years. This year for the first time on opening (NJ) , after I got it clear etc. all of my underwater fittings have turned brownorange, and there is the same staining on the floor of the pool where the floor outlets emit also.

It will not brush off.

I had a friend who had a fiberglass pool who had this problem all over and ascorbic acid rubbed on it took care of it. As soon as I am motivated I will try that to get rid of the stains, but does anyone have any idea what this is?

Probably iron oxide.

Get some vitamin C tablets at the store, put about 10 in a old sock and wipe your outlets with it. It works like magic, then get your iron levels corrected
