Default Opening pool late - What to do with frog fish?

    Hello there.

We are currently building a new deck around the pool, all fenced off because of the little guy that was born last year. We are still delayed because of all sorts of things so we can't open the pool yet.

My question: I do see the little frog fish getting bigger and i'm a little afraid that we'll end up with a frog plague later on since their natural predators are not in that small little pond. Can i do something about this or should i not worry too much?

    Thanks in advance.

Attached is a picture of the closed pool.

It will be easier to get rid of the frogs while they're still tadpoles than when they're adult frogs....If you have a way to circulate water (submersible pump?) you could always add chlorine and circulate it around even without opening. Is that a cover on top with water on it? If so, can you get the water at least off the cover? How long before you're ready to open? I think if it were mine and I would be opening in a few weeks, I would just deal with it all then. However, if we're talking months, I think I'd find a way to get some chlorine circulated in there, even if the filter isn't running--it would at least kill the wildlife.

    Thanks Janet.

It is a cover on top of the water. Maybe i should pump the water out already before the buggers get too big. It's hard to say when we're opening though, i hope it's in a couple of weeks though.

If you can get the water off the cover, I would go ahead and do that--and then when you uncover the pool, you can deal with the pool water then.

Good luck! If you have problems, we'll be here.....

Why not let them be - they'll eat all those mosquito larvae that must be in there with them and besides, they will be gone soon enough on their own. At least that's my opinion. ;o)

Plus, getting rid of dead frog tadpoles could be a stinky gross task. Especially while being eaten alive by mosquitoes.
