    Default Salt at 5400

Okay - I can't believe I fell victim to this one. My aquarite has been reading low salt due to rain so I put in a bag. More rain and it is still low so 2 more bags. The reading is still low so I tested with my salt tester - and now it is 5700. So, I guess I have to drain/refill and use the salt test to get it right. I probably should have used that to begin with.

The chlorine is also low - so I am wondering if there is something wrong with the cell - that it did not detect the salt correctly? And is not able to put out enough chlorine? usually we are problem free.

The system is now 3 years old and water is 73 degrees

Salt does not dilute, did you have to drain because of excessive rainfall?

Draining is the only way to lower it now. Are you using the taylor salt test kit?

Normally, due to splash-out (I have grandchildren), and draining because of monsoon rainfalls--I have to add about 4lbs each season to my 12,600 gallon IG.

When is the last time you cleaned the cell? If cleaning does not help then call goldline support. They can tell by the readout on your unit if the cell is failing.

How old is your cell... run through the buttons (the thing you use a pen for) and see if it is functioning at all... I had that exact same scenario a couple of years ago it was my cell which needed replace ment... I had to drain a bunch of water off.

One more thing to add...how long are you waiting before taking a salt reading? In my system it takes a few days to come down to the real number.

    hope this helps
