I'm still using the same pole I got when I installed the pool 7 years ago, and don't have that problem. When you store it, are you storing it in a collapsed position, with the grip loosened?

Well, I let Mother Nature get me in the pool spirit early this year. Just opened the pool and need to do some clean up. It seems like every spring the telescoping rod doesn't want to grip and I end up tossing it and buy a new one. Has anyone figured out how to repair the rod so that it grips instead of sliding on the rod? Is there a something better on the market than the simple twist to grip models? Suggestions?

Like Janet, my two poles are still usable. The shorter one is going into its tenth season and the longer into its seventh. I store both in my unheated shed over the winter.

I store mine collapsed with the ring tightened... in an outside location. I'll buy a new one and try leaving the rings loose. Thanks!
