    Default Aqualogic motherboard fried

Hi everyone...has anyone had a problem with the PS 4
Aualogic motherboards?. Just had mine replaced to the tune of 500.00 bucks. My wife says I shouldn't complain too much... have had the system flawlessly for 5 years.. still using same t cell. Just wanted to know if anyone else was having problems. Thanks

Ed, I've been working with them for about as long as you've had yours. The only trouble I've seen with the boards is after a near lightning strike - we had a string of failures (both in the Aqualogic boards and the Sta-Rite Max-E-Therm electrical components) after a series of violent electrical storms. If the failure occurred following a thunderstorm, your homeowner's insurance might cover the replacement (please note -- on a couple of the ones that were covered by insurance we had to leave the old/ damaged part(s) with the homeowner for the adjuster to see).

Now some bad news - depending on how often you run the cell, it may be very close to the end of it's life after 5 years It might be a good idea to set asside the cost of a new cell so you can have ~uninterrupted use of the system.

Yes. Mine just went out too. Mine is the PS8 though. A friend of ours a couple miles away had one too that just went out. Theirs lasted about 3 years, 4 months. Mine lasted 3 years 3 months.

Seems like there's maybe a design problem with these that requires replacement every several years. I expected to replace the cell after a few years, but not the dang mother board. My friend ended up paying $800 to have their 3 yr 4 month board replaced. I'll probably end up with the same price, and I wonder if I'll get the "5 year warranty" again that charges you 60% after 3 years. Put on a cell every few years, and this thing is costing a fortune.

I definitely won't be recommending Hayward Aqualogics after this experience unless they make it right with me. This is ridiculous.
