Re: ascorbic acid treatment for my pool?
It really is a great idea, if all of the ducks fall in a row - no money for water, no pool popping out - and not being refilled by a well. So while it would work for some, it may not for others. Sometimes I wonder where the metals come from too - if you are not sure, then you may still have problems even if you drain and add new water. However if you have a lot of staining - then it may be worth while to get rid of all of the metal (like draining and refilling) then start with no metal and only have to control the metals that are being reintroduced. I am glad it works for you. I think I am going to try it next year - on opening - this way I can check if the problem is less than usual, and I can post on how it works with well water. One benefit would be that I won't have to spend a lot to clean up the water that was in over the winter
This is how we all learn, from posts of what works for different people! Thanks for a great post!
masspool, sorry I didn't get to answer your post, it is ok to swim now. I would wait till 24 hours after the ascorbic acid treatment to start to add any chlorine and borax, and I wouldn't want to swim without chlorine in the water and low ph. So after raising the ph to 7.0 - 7.2, you can start to raise the chlorine up to the low level of your "best guess chart".
