    Default Survey on Hayward superpumps.

How many years has yours lasted?
The Hayward super pump seems to be very popular but I don’t understand why.

By my local pool store today to get a new shaft seal for a super pump that is just 3 months old.
Local store said they stopped carrying Hayward pumps after 20 years because they started having a lot of problems with lockup.

I have had an AG pool for 20 years. I had 2 Jacuzzi pumps and both lasted 10 years each without any other problem. Then it was just a shaft seal.
The cons were hard to get parts and poor tech support but then again did not really need this.
After the last one I thought after 10 years again I would try a Hayward .
Switched to Hayward and now 3 months and a shaft seal leak I also read a lot of post were they don’t seem to last is this normal. Hayward parts are a little cheaper and easy to get. But better to not need the parts.

1 HP Superpump 1997 vintage. No problems at all other than having to torque the 4 motor mount bolts each spring to stop a tiny drip. Should replace that gasket, have a new one, but no need to yet. Pump is inside a poolhouse, out of the weather. Looks, sounds, and performs like new.

Mine was on its 7th season on a pool that runs year round. No mechanical problems except one replaced gasket and one clogged impeller (shredded safety rope). Service guy broke a part off trying to put the thing back together, and when he replaced the part it was with the wrong one and burned the pump up. So....the service guy was the major problem--otherwise we were happy with the pump.

My first one went about 5 or 6 years, then next one went about 3 or 4. I replaced it with an Intelliflow this year.

Mine is on it's 6th season and still going strong. Only thing I had to do was put a new capaciter in it, and also a new shaft seal. It's a 1HP.
