cloudy stuff blowing in pool

Can anyone tell me what this might be?
I noticed the other day when my pump comes (from the timer), a puff of brown comes from the return port.
Any ideas and is this normal?

Do you have a sand filter? If you have a broken lateral in a sand filter, it is probably sand blowing back into the pool. Have you backwashed or cleaned your filter media lately? If it's sand and recently backwashed, did you switch to "rinse" before going back to filter?

OR... if DE, it could be a tear in a grid.

I've been kind of suspecting a broken line from what I've read here. I have bubbles in the return line, what I've not determined is algae or sand, different things like that. I have backwashed, and I thought that I rinsed, but I'm not 100% sure.
Is there a place on the forum that might tell me how to fix that?
