Hi all,

Every winter (I live in western PA) I've experimented with covers for the pool with different problems each time. I have a 16x32 deep end more-or-less-oval Doughboy AG with a complete surround deck so it's almost like an inground.

We have lots of trees in the yard so that becomes a mess. Once the trees are bare the next hurdle appears. Because of the rain, snow, freeze, thaw cycle it's hard to keep the cover clear of ice. The covers sink in and water in the pool oozes out the ports and over the top. The inflatable pillows deflate and become frozen blobs off to one side.

I'm wondering if some sort of bubble cover would work. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of device? I'm not meaning the very expensive, huge circus size that let's you swim all winter. Just something that would raise the cover off of the surface and let precip run off. Or has someone built some sort of framed enclosure for this purpose?

Thanks to all my poolforum experts in advance.
