    Default Sand Media from Walmart

Me again.....retained 30PPM FC for the past 30 hours or so and still can see the bottom....pressure is strong at 11psi with no need to back wash, even after a thorough brushing....skimmer sock has been in place for days now without the need to clean or change out (although it is picking up alot of scum)...
As posted way earlier, i had needed to purchase a new lateral/stand pipe for the 164 Hayward filter...With the install of the new laterals, i also "treated" the filter to new sand.....I paid Walmart $3.72 per 50 lb bag INSTEAD of the $9.50 the pool store wanted....(My filter uses 100lbs)......now based on those dollar amounts, Am I essentially "getting what I pay for" using the Walmart sand ???...SHould I have opted for the pool store sand instead ?? Could the sand actually be my green water problem ??

As long as it's pool sand, you are okay. Play sand etc. are not the right thing.

Green water is a chemistry issue, not a filter issue.

Thanks John....above it all the pool water is still super cloudy...and I thought using the slkimmer sock would have atleast taken care of "that" problem....thats why I questioned the sand itself...

The cloudiness is dead algae, which just shows that you are making progress. Keep the chlorine level up and the filter running!
