Default Water Clean - but now too much FC

I was battling a green monster, trying to get it under control for tomorrow's graduation party. Water is now clear, and all the vacuuming and backwashing have left it looking great. Unfortunately I overshot the mark on shocking the pool:

    25000 IG Vinyl
    FC: 13
    CC: 0
    ph: 7.2
    Alk: 90
    CYA: 60
    Temp: 79

I run my filter 24/7, and I'm leaving the solar cover off to help with filtering and allowing the sunlight in. I'm not completely understanding chemgeek's chart. I assume the green is good, blue is too high?

Temps are expected to be 90 tomorrow, with mostly sunny skies (some short storms). Party is at 6pm.

Will the guests be able to swim?

Yes. Your water is perfectly safe--you are well below the shock level for your CYA level and even for the next-lower category. The WORST that can happen is a few bathing suits might fade a little. Once you have a crowd of people in the water, a good bit of chlorine will be consumed on the contaminants we all have on our skin. Plus, overnight it should fall some as well.

Please report to what level of FC you shocked. I fought my green pool with FC= 20 (CYA=60) and won it like you did , but another member of this forum is having a problem fighting it.
IMHO you'd be better off adjsuting the pH to 7.4-7.6 (eyeball's fluid pH is 7.5)

    Have a great party!
This is my ticket for Heaven (when all's working..) :

    22k Gal gunite IGP
38 SF DE filter, 1 HP Hayward Super Pump
Raypak 350k BTU Natural Gas Heater and solar cover
    8 gal Liquidator with bleach
    Dolphin robotic cleaner
    Taylor k-2006 test kit

I have to admit I was not being scientific. I shocked, I still saw green, I shocked some more, kept vacuuming and backwashing. I'd estimate that I got it up to 20. Obviously, I overdid it a bit. But the water is nice and clear, if a little chlorine-smelling (for my family's use, I like to keep the CYA and chlorine level very low, and just add bleach every day or so). For the party, I'm fine with it.

7.2 is a little low for pH but chlorine is more effective at lower pHs. Still, the most harm it will do is cause swimmers' eyes to burn a little. Raising it a little to 7.3 to 7.6 isn't a bad idea. I'd add 1/4 box of Borax, then test pH 12-24 hours later.

If you smell chlorine, you are still metabolizing something. It might be a few leaves and bugs in the skimmer, or it might be something a little more serious--but only proper testing will tell.
