I am not the metals expert, Marie (mbar) is, and hopefully she'll be along soon to look at this thread. However.....the metal sequestrant that you're adding doesn't actually remove the metals from the water, it just keeps them suspended so they don't fall out of solution and stain your liner. You say that you don't see any difference in the pool--are you looking at test numbers or at the actual water? What does your water look like? With the metal sequestrant in, you should be able to go ahead and add chlorine at low levels with no problems until you get more definitive answers from Marie. Or you can add 60% polyquat, which will help prevent the algae in the absence of high chlorine levels.
