    Default liquid conditioner (cya)

Starting up pool... and asking this question again this year... Leslies sell a new "liquid conditioner" the granules are a pain, so if this is 100% equal I will spring for the cost.
    Here is link on leslies.

I compare the effective cost of pure CYA and this product here. It's about 1.7 to 2.5 times more expensive than using pure CYA, but it does dissolve quickly. I've communicated with the inventor of this product. It should be a fine product and the only downside is price, but that's what you pay for the convenience of more "instant" addition of CYA.

Adding pure CYA slowly into the skimmer and having it dissolve over a week in the filter is normally what is done and there's nothing wrong with that. The only reason I see for using the instant product is if you have to get some CYA into the water right away to protect the chlorine, though one could also use Dichlor for that purpose if they had to add chlorine anyway. I used Dichlor initially this season to get my CYA higher -- it doesn't dissolve quite as quickly as claimed (at least mine didn't -- it left some residue that took longer to dissolve). With Dichlor, for every 10 ppm FC it adds, it also increases CYA by 9 ppm.
