    Default Cloudy Teal Blue Water

Pulled the cover off my pool about a week ago to find a green mess. I dumped bleach in to kill the algae. For the first week I kept the chlorine level at around 20 ppm. The pool cleaned up some but is still a cloudy, light teal blue. I can see about half way down the sides on the deep end which is ~8 feet.

    Here are my current numbers:

    pH: 7.6
    TA: 80
    Calcium Hardness: 230
    CYA: 40
    TDS: 800

Since I found my CYA level to by ~40, I have been keeping my chorine levels around 15 to try to clear it up. I am thinking maybe the problem isn't algae. How can I clear up the water and getting in swimming condition... Hopefully by May 16, when my daughter wants to have swimming party (brrrrrrr) for her birthday.

BTW, If I lower the pH with muriatic acid, "about how much" do I add to lower the pH "about how much"?

    Thanks,
    Ed

I'd try lowering pH to 7.0 and see if it clears then. If not, it's something else.

Are you brushing the sides of the pool? What kind of pool do you have? If there is still some staining on the pool surface, it could make the water appear to be teal. Make sure you keep the chlorine up at 15 - 20 continuously, keeping the filter going 24/7.

Yes... been running the filter 24/7 since I took the cover off.
