The delta T (change in temperature from the inlet to the outlet) from a heat pump is not drastic enough to affect the automatic temperature compensation. It should be about 3-5 degrees. A gas heater would be about 7 - 10 degrees and would affect the temp compensation.
I would not worry about it with your set up.
With a gas heater, if you position the manifold at least 4' after the heater outlet, there should be enough dissipation of the heat to not affect the temp compensation that much.
You're fine going from your 1.5" lines up to 2" then back down.
