Ahh, you guys have it way too easy. Up here in NH the pool water is about 50 degrees. Of course the kids want to jump right in (I took the winter cover off on Friday as it was about 80 outside) but I have to make them wait awhile while the heat pump does it's thing.

Water dropped to the low 50's here--thought it was warmer but I think my son mis-read the high-tech infrared thermometer. Up to my elbow is more than too cold for me!

The heat pump has been cranking and I may get the water up to 70 today, at least warm enough for the kids to go in. It will need a couple more days before I take the plunge though.

With the water at 64 this morning the kids decided it was warm enough, and in they went. My 9-year old takes great pride in being the first in the pool. Swimming in New Hampshire on April 23, not bad.

Wow, you guys are tougher than me....I won't let my kids in until it's 80, and that's still cool for me!

Have the Robitussin and Sudafed ready--everyone's gonna get sick!

I won't go in when it's 64 without a wetsuit and ONLY then to fix something. I take no pride in going in when it's cold--no fun at all. 78 is the coldest without the wetsuit. My wife won't get in unless the water's over 90!

I'm just too darn old for cold water!

Sounds like everyone is just a little too spoiled around here! I'm gonna go with the theory that swimming in the cold water will actually make the kids more resistant to sickness as it will toughen them up. I would have gone in in my younger days, but not now, maybe when it hits 75, but preferably 80.

Since everyone here, but me, now has the flu, I'm not testing your hypothesis (and I'm fighting it off--I hope).
