    Default PH Question

A while back I read somewhere that your PH level could cause vinyl liners to be overly tight or loose and cause wrinkles but I don't remember the particulars. Is it high ph cause's it to wrinkle or the other way around? Or is this all just a myth and the PH doesn't affect it. Thanks in advance for any info.

To the best of my knowledge, high pH doesn't cause problems to the liner itself, but the resulting imbalance can cause swimmer discomfort and other problems. Low pH, on the other hand can and will harm a liner causing it to fade and loose it's elasticity. If a high concentration of acid is applied directly to the liner it may buckle/ wrinkle/ pucker.

pH levels should be no lower than 6.9 for vinyl pools otherwise the vinyl can be damaged. There's no specific upper limit, per se, but high pH can be very dangerous, too--but you should NEVER see it even close to danger levels.
