Brown Swamp

Hello All, My above ground pool cover complete with 3 inches of water filled with leaves and broken down debris caved into the pool. I had to pull it out and now my pool is a totally brown mess. You can't see more than 2 inches into the pool.

This has never happened to me before and I'm looking for advice to fix it. I am keeping the filter running and for two days now it does not seem to be helping.

Any advice you can offer will be appreciated.

Don't worry, it's a lot easier to clear up than you might think. First thing you need to do is to remove as much of the debris as possible from the bottom of the pool. Then add enough bleach to bring your chlorine up to 12-15 ppm (there's a calculator somewhere on this forum to tell you how much to add, it's based on your pool volume) and keep it at that level by adding more chlorine 2-3 times a day to get back up to the 12-15 mark. Keep your filter running 24/7, backwashing as needed, and your pool should clear pretty quickly.
