Default Can a hole be repaired in a fiberglass pool?

We have had several flooding rains this year. I guess water must have gotten under our fiberglass pool. This weekend we heard a loud pop & dirt & water begin rushing in from the bottom of the pool. We're not sure how large the hole is, but the water was coming in pretty fast. Is there anything that can be done to repair the pool or are we out of luck? They did Seismographic oil studies where they shook the ground about 6-9 months ago. I'm not too sure that it didn't shift the ground around the pool bottom, because the pool has been in place for 5 years. I'm sure that the warranty won't cover it, because my husband installed

Pool epoxy. It can be applied even underwater. It's like putty.

However, I'm guessing that if the pool is actually split, you may have a tough time repairing it.

I had a friend that had a major hole in the bottom of their FG pool. They ended up lining the bottom with sand and intalled a vinyl liner in it. It actually turned out pretty nice. They screwed the channel around the top to accept the liner bead and used the channel assembly that usually goes around the steps on their steps. I believe it cost them around 2,800 for the whole "remodel". The tricky part is getting the measurements right.

Their hole was bad enough that a couple of contractors told them they should just fill it in. It may be an option for you too if yours is very bad.

    Good luck.

Unfortunately it is very bad. I didn't know if they can patch fiberglass or even possibly pour concrete into that area to try to patch.

Is pool fiberglass much different that boat fiberglass? I have a fiberglass boat or if you prefer a glass reinforced plastic and it can easily be patched under the waterline with epoxy and fiberglass cloth. The patch will be better than original because epoxy does not absorb water like polyester resin does.

    Can the pool be emptied?

If you have drained the pool (dangerous if you have a water table) and can access the crack, that's much of the battle... I repaired a crack in our fiberglass pool... probably smaller that what it sounds like you all are dealing with, but if you can get the area clean and dry, it may be possible to do your own patch. I have detailed what I did in the following page... did some dumb things that I don't recommend, but it certainly turned out nice and has held up for over a year with no deterioration. Webpage is at....

Hope that is helpful... please let me know what happens. All my best.
