Default New advice for heat pump in Oklahoma

    Hi All

I'm looking for opinons on getting a heat pump instead of a heater in the Oklahoma City area. I would enjoy reading your opinions on the subject. It looks like the heat pump is roughly $1000 more, but a big savings over time. But I also read that the advantages really depend on the location. There are very few pools with heat pumps in Oklahoma, so I can't find anyone to ask their opinon.

And, there are so many brands. I really can't find any imformation that ranks one better than another. Is it safe to go with the cheapest. I have Pentair Equipment, but a local dealer sells Aqua Cal also. Then there is the Heat Siphon and Gulf Stream. Does anybody not like their heatpump?

Is it safe to order over the internet?

We are ready to buy, so any opinons and advice are helpful.

    Thanks

    Beary

Don't know how well Aquacal works in your neck of the woods (Perhaps Poolsean will see this and chip in--he works for them) but I have one and it's an EXCELLENT heat pump! (We also sell them where I work.) Since you live in a cold climate you would probably want one of the reverse cycle models. Most people think the only advantage to these is that they can also cool the pool in the heat of summer but they can heat the pool in much lower ambient air temperature (down to freezing!) so they will actually extend your swim seaon longer than a straight heat one.
