Default Need info on Chlorine Free USA

Recently attained a home show in Florida and there was a booth selling CL Free Pool sanitation system that replace chlorine. Does anyone have any experience with this company or know of the process.

    Thank you, Bill

Don't know this particular system but just about EVERY system on the market that claims to be clorine free is copper based (eithrer an active or passive ionizer or solid or liquid copper sulfate) and still needs chlorine if you want sanitized water! (Unless, of course, it's a bromine or biguanide based system).

Chlorine-free systems are nothing but trouble. This board is littered with tales of people converting back to chlorine from them. They are EXTREMELY expensive to use and maintain and they don't work very well.

Please read through our forum, especially the stickied threads in each specialty forum.

Then go to our sister site, PoolSolutions.com and read all the free materials (don't try to sign up--that part of the site isn't work and is out of our control).

Finally, realize that most complaints about chlorine are a mis-understanding of pool chemistry and usually, are the result of poor maintenance. Example: "Chlorine turns blond hair green." Nope. It's the copper used in algaecides that we suggest you do NOT use.

"Chlorine makes my eyes burn" Well, that's sort of true...the "good" chlorine (free chorine) doesn't do that at all--nor does it smell bad. Used-up chlorine (combined chloramines) WILL irritate your eyes and smells like, well, chlorine. The way to fix both is ADD more chlorine. When my pool smells like chlorine I KNOW I have C/Cs and I need to boost the FC level to knock it out.

"Chlorine causes cancer". Again, in very, very, very few cases it can--vanishingly small numbers like a few hundred out of ten million. But water-borne diseases are far more dangerous and kill far more people each year than chlorine-based-cancer. The risk of non-chlorinated water is far worse than chlorinated water.

    Just some thoughts.

Carl didn't mention it but probably 99% of the info on these snake oil systems is in this forum:
