    Default Covering Filter

I have a sand filter that I use with a 24' round AG pool. I have seen some posts regarding people who remove the multi-port but leave the filter out in the elements. Thats seems like a sound idea to me. I read in the posts about covering the filter with a heavy duty trash bag and duct taping it. The original poster was very specific about NOT putting tape on the filter itself, just the bag.

Sorry to ask a dumb question, but how does one do that? How do you keep the bag tight so it doesn't flap in the wind? I figured I pull off the multiport, but leave the clips that hold it. At least that will protect the sand from contamination and hold the bag on top. How to secure the rest of the bag I don't know.

    Thanks!

If you just drop the trash bag over the filter then duct tape around the filter but over the bag it should be tight enough. Once the bag is snug against the filter body it won't fly off. I suppose the reason someone stated not to tape to the body of the filter is because duct tape sticky goo can be a dog to get off after a period of time although gasoline can be used on the filter body to clean it off without doing any harm.
